WICS Pathways for Language Minors
The new World Intercultural Studies concentration in Modern Languages affords students who are already minoring in a language the opportunity to leverage their minor into a major.
Because the WICS major requires competence in a language, as a language minor, you are in an excellent position to add this new major and transform your minor in American Sign Language, Arabic Studies, French, German, or Spanish into a double major. Adding a second major enhances your profile, and as a language minor, you are already in the process of completing course requirements for the World Intercultural Studies.
Beyond your minor, you need to complete three courses in World Intercultural Studies and five courses of your choosing with an international and/or intercultural focus. We encourage you to check the list of pre-approved courses that will automatically count towards the WICS major, but please note that you can petition the Department of Modern Languages to evaluate any course with international content to be included.
Please contact the Department for further information, and we can show you how to declare a second major, advise you on classes that count for the new major (including ones you have already taken), and help you put your language skills to work to open new doors!
