New MODL Concentration! World Intercultural Studies

Starting in Fall 2026, the Department of Modern Languages will offer a new concentration in World Intercultural Studies!

World Intercultural Studies allows students to gain global perspectives and intercultural communication skills and provides academic pathways that help majors understand how cultures interact, influence one another, and shape experiences in fields such as education, business, communication, and tourism. This concentration offers a comprehensive and flexible framework for students who wish to explore global relationships through an interdisciplinary lens, drawing from courses in language, history, communication, area studies, and the social sciences. At the heart of the program is a foundation in foreign language study, with students engaging in 18 credit hours of language coursework. This language foundation provides students with essential communication tools, helping them develop both linguistic and cultural competence that is crucial for navigating international and multicultural contexts.
