International Students
The major starts with Spanish 310 for both U.S. and international students, including those who are native speakers of Spanish. The courses in the major are given in Spanish and focus on literature, culture, and linguistics. For the native speaker, the Spanish major deepens language skills while building a strong knowledge and skill base in the liberal arts, and opens the way to a variety of careers.
International students may also like to know that the University requirement in literature can be taken in any language. Students from the Hispanic world majoring in other fields often take literature and other advanced courses in Spanish to fulfill the literature requirement and/or as Humanities electives.
For international students from other world areas, the program will work in the same way as it does for U.S. students. With its global orientation, our department is happy to welcome you.
